About the Foundation

The Force and Motion Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, fully funded by AMTI to support students in fields related to multi-axis force measurement and testing. We distribute scholarships throughout the year to help students on their paths to becoming the scientific leaders of tomorrow.

The Foundation also serves as creator and curator of the Virtual Poster Session, an international resource for information exchange and networking within the academic community.
About the Scholarships

The Force and Motion Academic Scholarship, made possible by funds from AMTI, is awarded annually to assist promising graduate students in fields related to multi-axis force measurement and testing.

During the 2011–2012 academic year, the Foundation will award two $10,000 scholarships to help defray the qualified expenses of two promising graduate students. Scholarships will be offered on a competitive basis; applications will be judged by the Force and Motion Foundation’s review board based on quality, scientific contribution, and innovation.

Full scholarship details as well as an online application form can be found at ForceAndMotion.org.
How to help your students

To be considered for the $10,000 scholarships, each student must complete an online application at ForceAndMotion.org before February 1, 2012.

The Frank J. Redd student scholarship competition will be held in conjunction with the 26th Annual American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA)/Utah State University (USU) Conference on Small Satellites, taking place August 13-16, 2012 in Logan, Utah, USA.

The Student Scholarship Competition provides undergraduate and post-graduate students with the opportunity to share their work on small satellite concepts and missions. Scholarships are awarded to competition finalists presenting at the Small Satellite Conference with the number and dollar values of the scholarships determined on a yearly basis. This is a tremendous opportunity for students to showcase their works to industry, government, and academia. Many of our finalists have received job offers and/or interviews on the spot as a result of their participation.

This year’s Student Competition papers will be due by April 20, 2012. For questions regarding the Student Scholarship Competition or general Small Satellite Conference information, please contact Sonya Warner at +01.435.713.3496 or sonya.warner@usurf.usu.edu.
